The question we follow
How do economies shape culture, and how does culture shape economies? JUXTONOMICS follows this question across human prehistory and recorded history, across societies rather than within a single century or region.
Sources and interpretation
Researched articles include numbered references and a source list. Historical images have captions and source or license information. A source may establish that a story was told or an image circulated without establishing that the events depicted actually happened.
Our standard is to distinguish documented evidence, contested explanations, and the author’s interpretation. Claims should be checked against the sources that support them. Where sources disagree or evidence is incomplete, the article should make that uncertainty clear. These essays are not represented as peer-reviewed scholarship.
How AI is used
The three launch essays about Rome’s foundation myth, Leo X and the Reformation, and the sixties and social reform were researched and drafted with ChatGPT at the publisher’s request. The JUXTONOMICS byline identifies the publication; it is not a claim that a named human specialist wrote those essays.
The articles published on October 16, 2026 about postwar Japanese electronics, Sparta’s decline, and Victorian clothing were also researched and drafted with ChatGPT at the publisher’s request, using the linked sources. They have not been independently reviewed by a named human specialist.
AI can produce factual errors, misleading interpretations, and citation mistakes. The linked evidence matters more than the fluency of the prose. AI assistance does not remove the publisher’s responsibility for what is published. Substantial AI involvement should be disclosed when new material is added.
Images and examples
Historical images should be described accurately and credited. AI-generated illustrations must be labeled and must not be presented as documentary evidence. Temporary reading samples are labeled, excluded from the published article listings and RSS feed, and kept separate from researched essays.
Requesting a correction
To flag a factual error, unsupported claim, broken citation, or image-credit problem, contact:
Sid McDowell
juxtonomics@gmail.com
Include the article address, the passage or image in question, what you believe is wrong, and supporting evidence when available. A disagreement about interpretation is welcome, but does not by itself establish a factual error.
Substantive corrections should carry a dated note explaining what changed. Minor spelling, punctuation, formatting, and broken-link repairs may be made without a correction note when they do not change the meaning. A material revision should retain the article’s original publication date and identify when it was updated.
Commercial relationships
Paid placements, affiliate relationships, and other material commercial connections must be clearly disclosed alongside affected content if introduced. Ordinary source citations and image credits should not be presented as endorsements.
Privacy in correspondence
Send only what is necessary to explain your concern. Read the privacy policy for how correspondence is handled. We will not treat a correction request as permission to publish your name or message.
